Patient tracking and beyond at Albert Einstein Medical Center

At the Philadelphia Hospital Sonitor’s USID is utilized to monitor the training of residents and interns and to track the work and efficiency of doctors and nurses.

RFID Journal recently published an article about how the Philly Hospital Uses RTLS to Track Patient Flow and TrainingRFID Journal journalist Beth Bacheldor explains how this teaching hospital is leveraging the ultrasound RTLS solution with the Amelior EDTracker software delivered by Patient Care Technology Systems (PCTS).

When Albert Einstein Medical Center first began using the Amelior EDTracker from PCTS the software mainly worked with an infrared RTLS solution, but using a technology that requires line of sight did not provide the accurate and reliable location information they needed. After the integration between PCTS’ tracker software and Sonitor’s ultrasound RTLS technology they chose to switch and now the hospital is leveraging the solution better. According to RFID Journal Albert Einstein Medical Center has seen a $4.5 million increase in hospital revenue and a 24 percent increase in the number of patients in its emergency department and hospital admissions since their expansion, renovation and implementation of its RTLS.
